Day 01: Nairobi
On arrival in Nairobi, we are met and transferred to our hotel, with the
balance of the day at leisure until this evening’s welcome reception
and safari briefing in Nairobi. Accommodation: In a city hotel on bed
and breakfast basis.
Day 02: Nairobi – Amboseli
National Park
We drive to Amboseli National Park, famous for its big game and snow-capped
Mt. Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite on Full
Board Basis.
Day 03: Amboseli National Park
Spend the morning and afternoon game viewing, with the chance to photograph
wildebeest, zebra, giraffe and elephant herds. Dinner and overnight at
the lodge or campsite on Full Board Basis.
Day 04: Amboseli – Arusha,
Tanzania – Ngorongoro
Today we drive across the border into Tanzania, arriving in Arusha in
time for lunch; we drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. At a depth of 2,000
feet, this caldera, created by the collapse of an extinct volcano, contains
a “Lost World” of wildlife and cattle-herding Maasai. Dinner
and overnight at the lodge or campsite on Full Board Basis.
Day 05: Ngorongoro Crater
Today is a day of superb game viewing with a special picnic lunch. The
Crater, one of Africa’s most magnificent wildlife arenas, is up
to twelve miles across and its prairies are a haven for an estimated 30,000
large mammals, including lion, elephant, hyena, hippo, wildebeest, baboon,
gazelle and the endangered black rhino. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
or campsite on Full Board Basis.
Day 06: Ngorongoro Crater –
Serengeti National Park
This morning we visit a Masai village then drive into the spectacular
Serengeti Plains by way of Olduvai Gorge, stopping en route for a private
guided visit to this archaeological site made famous by the discoveries
of the Leakey family. An afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park
introduces us to one of Africa’s premier game reserves. Dinner and
overnight at the lodge or campsite on Full Board Basis.
Day 07: Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti is unique in the world. Plains, rivers and rocky outcroppings
all have resident populations of wildlife and the panoramas are breathtaking.
We explore here on morning and afternoon game drive in Serengeti National
Park introduces us to one of Africa’s premier game reserves. Dinner
and overnight at the lodge or campsite on Full Board Basis.
Day 08: Serengeti National Park –
Lake Manyara National Park
We then continue to Lake Manyara National Park, located in the Great Rift
Valley. Lake Manyara is famous for huge herds of elephant and hundreds
of bird species. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite on Full
Board Basis.
Day 09: Lake Manyara National Park
– Nairobi
Depart Lake Manyara National park after a game drive arriving Arusha in
time for lunch. Connect shuttle bus to Nairobi arriving via the Namanga
border point with a brief stop for immigration formalities. Dinner and
overnight at the city hotel on Bed and Breakfast Basis.
Day 10: Nairobi – Maasai Mara
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel. Thereafter
depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve stopping at the viewpoint of the
Great Rift Valley and at Narok town for lunch. Arrive in time for a late
afternoon game drive in this park, which is essentially the northern extension
of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park as an artificial border only
separates the two. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite on Full
Board Basis.
Day 11 – 12: Masai Mara Game
Reserve
We spend two days in this magnificent savannah country, the northern extension
of the Serengeti ecosystem. On morning and afternoon game drives we may
see elephant, giraffe, prides of lion and plains game such as impala,
Grants and Thomson’s gazelles. On our final evening, we enjoy a
farewell dinner. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite on Full
Board Basis.
Day 13: Masai Mara – Nairobi
We drive or fly to Nairobi today.
