East Africa is home to three of the highest peaks in Africa. These three summits which are on Mount Kilimanjaro in Kenya, Mount Ruwenzori in Uganda and Mount Kenya in the country that goes by a similar name, are all snow capped. Mount Kilimanjaro looms some 16,000 feet (4,900 meters) above the plains that spread out from its base, Mt. Kilimanjaro dominates its surroundings. Kilimanjaro is an extinct volcano, with 3 peaks: Kibo peak, Shira peak & Mawenzi peak.
